An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to apply for the post of Clinical Educator for Apprenticeships, Clinical Skills and Care Certificate within the Department of Professional Healthcare Education at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.
This role is a great opportunity for an experienced registered nurse or registered healthcare professional with excellent interpersonal and clinical skills to support and coordinate the development of education programmes for staff new to care, those on apprenticeship journeys or supporting with clinical skills to support our staff to safely care for our patients.
They will coordinate educational activities and assessments of learning within the department, working in conjunction with clinical educators and managers throughout the Trust.
Experience of teaching and mentoring is essential with evidence of ongoing personal and professional development.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
Manage the delivery of the care certificate and clinical skills programme ensuring it is contemporary and responsive to organisational and patient pathway needs.
Co-ordinate the care certificate and clinical skills programme delivery, content, structure and clinical competency development.
Maintain a specialist knowledge base to ensure care certificate and clinical skills development for the organisation is evidence based.
Facilitate and lead the delivery of the clinical apprenticeship programmes liaising with educational providers and acting as the conduit between clinical practices.
Provide the educational support structure for clinical apprenticeships across the organisation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Facilitate the delivery of proactive and responsive apprenticeship training, which is compliant with National Apprenticeship standards and is achievable within clinical practice and the changing needs and environs of patient care.
Facilitate, evaluate and deliver the Clinical Skills Portfolio, maintaining contemporary programmes that meet the needs of the organisation
Facilitate the delivery of Care Certificate, which is an identified set of standards, designed by NHS England, that health and care professionals adhere to in their daily working life. Designed with the non-regulated workforce in mind, the Care Certificate gives everyone the confidence that health and care professionals have the same introductory skills, knowledge and behaviours to provide compassionate, safe and high-quality care and support in their own particular workplace setting.
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria- Registered professional i.e.: NMC/HCPC/AHP
- First degree or equivalent qualification
- Training/education qualification (e.g. Certificate/Diploma in Education)
- Post Graduate Certificate in Education or willing to work towards
- Proven evidence of continuous professional development
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria- Demonstrable experience of working in a National Health Service provider unit
- Demonstrable Experience of managing learning and development projects and processes within a large organisation
- Demonstrable Extensive working knowledge of IT applications, Learning Management Systems and other systems (e.g. e-KSF) Data Collection audit & reporting
- Practical Demonstrable experience of the full training cycle: i.e. Identification of training needs, design & delivery of learning interventions, and experience of using evaluation models and approaches
- Demonstrable Experience in training delivery to a diverse range of adults
