French Language Assistant (Part Time)

The Modern Languages department at Abingdon School wishes to appoint a fluent, engaging and well-organised part-time French Language Assistant to support the teaching of spoken French to motivated GCSE and A level students from the 1st of September 2025.

This opportunity is available either as a one year fixed term appointment to July 2026 or, alternatively, may be available on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will work with pupils to develop their spoken French skills and their appreciation and knowledge of Francophone cultures, as well as playing an integral role in their preparation for public examinations. As well as being fluent in French, the successful candidate will have a genuine enthusiasm and passion for the language and culture and will strive to inspire and motivate our pupils, playing an important role in promoting French across the School.

This post is term time only (34 weeks). The French Assistant will generally work on average for around 20 hours per week, as agreed with the Head of French. We offer an attractive employment package which includes an hourly rate of £21.17 (inclusive of holiday pay) and training.
