This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a Full-time band 6 Occupational therapist to join our Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIIP) Service, working with young people experiencing a first episode of psychosis.

The post holder will be based in Sale, Trafford and see people throughout the borough, an attractive leafy suburb with good public transport links and cycling routes.

We are a collaborative, multidisciplinary team who aim to provide a values and evidence-based, NICE concordant package of care to our clients.

We seek actively to engage, assess, intervene and support people in their recovery and work with them for up to three years.

We are looking for someone who has a keen interest in working with this client group and their families within the EIIP model. The postholder will be involved in assessment of clients referred to the team, will engage in multi-disciplinary discussions and the delivery of a nice concordant care package to support recovery.

Close working with MDT colleagues is required and consultation will be offered to help support their work with their clients.

The post will have a split role.

Care coordination, OT assessments and delivery of IPS intervention.

  • To manage a defined caseload of clients within the Early Intervention Service, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and record all interventions, and in line with relevant clinical pathway ( functional ) as outlined within the operational procedure.
  • To provide professional advice for junior staff and support staff.
  • To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of the service with the designated team, holding responsibility for defined projects.
  • To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on fieldwork placement.
  • To abide by the College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and the College of Occupational Therapy Professional Standards for OT Practice.
  • To participate in the duty assessment rota operated by the Community Mental Health Team.
  • To have a designated caseload of service users with Primary OT needs.
  • To take the lead on employment and vocational interventions and networking with local organisations/employers.
