Your New Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Painter/Decorator to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account in HMYOI Stoke Heath, this role is based on-site.
There may be a need to work some weekends but this would be on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary)
At Amey, we’re supporting our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons.
By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.
Painter/Decorator plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week (across 7 days where a weekend shift pattern is in place).
You will be responsible for:
Planned and reactive paint work in all areas of the prison.Responsibility for the care and maintenance of tools, materials and additional company property.
Compliance with relevant company Health & Safety Policy, instructions and directive.
This role will also support both local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as and where it is appropriate.
Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
What makes this role unique is you will ensure all works are carried out to the highest safety standards, sometimes working alongside and supervising the work of prisoners. Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).
We want to hear from you if you have:
Must be a fully qualified Painter.Previous relevant work related experience.
Good awareness and understanding of personal health and safety, method statements and risk assessments.
Comfortable working alongside prisoners.
Ideally you will be qualified to NVQ level 3 in Painting and Decorating, however we will consider applications if you have NVQ level 2.
In addition to this, it would be desirable if you are comfortable working alongside prisoners and experience in sharing best practice with others to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
