What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
p>- Awareness/ knowledge of Tuxedo/ IPC, Microfocus COBOL, SQL, Bash, Unix and RHEL.
- Awareness/ knowledge of open-source technologies and tools such as Python and Java.
- Experience of using task management tooling such as Jira.
- Experience and the skills required to build up a useful, robust automated test suite to support a continuous deployment environment.
- Experience of leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, communicating with stakeholders, driving delivery, ensuring standards, ways of working and building supportive and collaborative culture. ul>

You and your role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be building innovative software solutions and maintaining our core systems, using your skills and experience in C or C++ to develop solutions to complex challenges as part our Citizen Services team. You will also be supporting, coaching and guiding a team of high-performing software engineers, as well as sharing best practices with the wider software engineering and digital communities.

Location: You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Manchester, Blackpool or Newcastle, whichever is most convenient for you.

Hybrid Working:We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.

Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £78,517.
p>
Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth up to £22,691 per year.

Holidays:A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.
