An exciting opportunity for a full time Specialist Occupational Therapist (Band 6) has become available at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.
Our Critical Care Unit is a regional trauma centre and has 36 beds including trauma, surgical, medical, neurosurgical and Spinal Cord Injury and lends itself naturally to innovative ways of working. It is supported by an experienced therapy team which consists of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and therapy technicians.The Critical Care therapy team work as part of a wider, dedicated multidisciplinary team. This will give the post holder an excellent opportunity to help build further clinical expertise that will enhance and broaden respiratory and rehabilitation skills within a highly motivated team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be integral in continuing to develop the existing Critical Care OT service and contributing to the shared AHP vision. The post holder will be a specialist OT who is dedicated to Critical Care and will be expected to deliver advanced assessment and treatment to critical care patients.
The post holder will be able to demonstrate relevant experience and have a sound understanding of conditions affecting this patient group. Demonstrable knowledge of specialist cognitive and orientation interventions will be required, with the understanding of the specific needs of patients on Critical Care.
The Critical Care team at the UHNM is innovative and enthusiastic with strong leadership and a commitment to MDT working. The AHP team has a positive approach to continuing professional development and there is an active in-service training programme.All band 6 OTs contribute to a weekend working rota and take part in student education.

Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria- Degree/Dilpoma in Occupational Therapy
- Registered with HCPC
- Evidence of CPD
- CPD relevant to speciality area
Experience
Essential criteria- Minimum of 18 months post-graduate experience as an Occupational Therapist
- Experience gained in an acute setting
- NHS experience
- 2-4 years post graduate experience
Skills, Ability and Knowledge
Essential criteria- Good communicator - in writing
- Experience of audits
