The Early Intervention Team provides support and intervention to individuals who are experiencing a First Episode of Psychosis. The team is based in an office with purpose built clinical space in the centre of Ashton-Under-Lyne, covering the Tameside and Glossop area and has access to remote working systems.This is an exciting opportunity secondment opportunity for the post of Band 6 Care coordinator (RMN, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist) to work within this established specialist service.
Main duties of the job
As a Care Coordinator you will hold a caseload for service users identified as being in the early phase of a psychotic illness or an At Risk Mental State. This will include the assessment of needs and delivery of interventions in line with currently identified best practice and in line with NICE guidance.Supported by the Team Manager you will support the day to day organisation of the team and ensure that work priorities are met, providing advice and supervision as required to other mental health professionals within the multi-disciplinary team and contributing to ongoing service developments

This includes offering skills based training, such as access to specialist assessment training (CAARMs/PANSS) and Psychosocial and Family Intervention. There is a Clinical Psychologist and there are Cognitive Behavioual Therapists embedded within the team who offer support through supervision.

Person specification
Edcation and Qualification
Essential criteria- Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN/Diploma/Degree), Occupational Therapist or Social Work registration
- Qualification to post graduate level or equivalent worked experience relevant to the role.
- Approved Mental Health Practitioner.
- Mentorship / Practice Leadership qualification.
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of giving clinical supervision
- Experience of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience working with clients with serious mental illness and their families/carers.
- Experience of care co-ordinating complex packages of care.
- Experience of conducting high quality risk assessments and implementing risk management plans.
- Experience in early intervention for psychosis, e.g. specialist placement, previous employment in the early intervention service, participation in a research trial or personal experience
- Experience in the use of psychosis-specific semi-structured interviews (e.g. PANSS; CAARMS; PSYRATS).
- Experience of managing Community Treatment Order’s.
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Knowledge of the ethos and philosophy of early interventions to support their clinical practice.
- A high level of knowledge and around Early Intervention for Psychosis
- Knowledge of research in psychosocial interventions and clinical implication.
- A high level of knowledge about the evidence base and guidance for interventions for those with psychosis and an At-Risk Mental State.
- Knowledge of NICE guidelines for psychosis and schizophrenia.
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria- Able to organise, plan and implement own work and oversee that of others.
- Able to work to set workload deadlines and to coordinate staff to achieve same.
- To be self-motivated and to manage time effectively.
- An ability to interact appropriately and professionally with colleagues.

- Experience of delivering service presentations and liaison to outside agencies to encourage referrals.
Work related circumstances
Essential criteria- Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs
