Our supportive Paignton and Brixham Physiotherapy Team based at Kings Ash House are looking for a Band 3 Physiotherapy Assistant to join us full time.
To assist the Physiotherapist working under supervision in providing a community-based therapy service to patients in Paignton and Brixham to promote faster recovery from illness and support timely discharge and maximise independent living. There may also be the opportunity to work in Brixham hospital at times as demand requires.
Main duties of the job
To be part of the wider Physiotherapy team supporting the Physiotherapists with rehabilitation programmes for patients in the community.
Meeting the challenge of managing time, organising work effectively, whilst working under pressure and with frequent interruptions.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities- Communicate with a range of people on a range of matters that is appropriate to them and the situation
- Skilled in sensitively ensuring patients are aware of their limitations and that all goals are, specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound
- Identify potential risk in moving and manual handling of patients and to act in a way that minimises risk
- Under the direction of the professional implement either a teaching plan or equipment or both to enable the correct use of medicines
- Under the supervision of the professional teach patients to self- administer medicines, e.g. eye drops, catheter care

Qualifications and training
Essential criteria- Written and verbal skills
- Clean driving licence
- Basic IT skills
- One of the following 2 qualifications: 1) 3 A levels or Health and Science T-Level or equivalent level 3 qualification and functional skills (level 2). 2) Level 3 apprenticeship, such as the Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship (or other level 3 qualification pathway).
- Previous NHS experience
- Care Certificate
Knowledge and experience
Essential criteria- Ability to communicate with diverse groups of people
- Ability to keep accurate reports according to organisational procedure
- Ability to work in a way that minimises risks to health safety and security
- Understands need to work within the limits of own competence and responsibility and refer issues beyond these to relevant people
- Ability to recognise and report behaviour that undermines inequality and diversity
- Ability to work in a way that is in accordance with legislation, policies, procedures and good practice
- Experience of working within multidisciplinary team/multiagency team (in hours)
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Understanding of Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy roles
- Experience working in a ward or rehabilitation environment
