We are currently looking for a skilled and experienced Support Worker who is British Sign Language (BSL) Level 3 trained to join our passionate team in Winsford.

Role Overview:
As a Support Worker, you will play a pivotal role in supporting individuals with communication needs, particularly those who rely on British Sign Language. You will assist with a range of daily activities, ensuring that each person receives the care and support they need to lead fulfilling lives.

Your role will also involve supporting individuals through challenging situations, implementing trauma-informed approaches, and promoting positive behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide person-centred care to individuals, ensuring their health, wellbeing, and safety are maintained.
  • Use British Sign Language (BSL) to effectively communicate with service users, ensuring they are supported in an accessible and inclusive manner.
  • Carry out moving and handling tasks in line with health and safety guidelines.
  • Implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) techniques and de-escalation strategies when needed.
  • Provide support using a trauma-informed approach, understanding the impact of past experiences on behaviour.
  • Support individuals with activities of daily living (e.g., personal care, medication, meal preparation).
  • Monitor and document service users’ progress and report any concerns to senior staff.

Essential Criteria:

  • British Sign Language (BSL) Level 3 qualification.
  • Experience with moving and handling procedures and equipment.
  • Experience in applying Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and de-escalation techniques.
  • Experience supporting individuals with trauma, and a trauma-informed approach to care.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to work well with vulnerable individuals.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to care and problem-solving.
