Please see below for detailed job description of the role.

Applications are invited to apply for the position of Junior Fellow in Critical Care.

The successful candidates will join a large, dynamic critical care team in providing a high-quality clinical care for our patients. These posts are for a year.

Previous critical care experience is desired but not essential.
Applicants from all acute specialities including anaesthetics, medical, emergency medicine or surgical backgrounds will be considered.

The post will provide training and experience in all aspects of intensive care medicine in a large multidisciplinary unit.

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) General Intensive Care Unit (GICU) is a very busy 32-bed unit and one of the largest acute teaching hospitals trusts on the south coast of England. We are rated as “outstanding” by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), and our clinical outcomes are one of the best in the UK.

This post is intended for Junior Fellows who wish to gain experience in managing Level 3 and Level 2 patients in an Intensive Care Unit. This post will provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience assessing and managing all critically ill patients with supervision from a dedicated intensive care consultant.

As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. UHS is rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, we were in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.

We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.

Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 20% lower than London and 14 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.
