The Emergency Department (ED) at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a fast-paced, dynamic environment that provides emergency care for patients requiring urgent medical attention. Our department is one of the busiest in the region, handling a diverse range of emergency cases, from minor injuries to life-threatening conditions.We have a dedicated multidisciplinary team, including doctors, nurses, advanced practitioners, and support staff, all working collaboratively to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients in need.
The ED operates 24/7, offering rapid access to emergency medical services. We see a wide variety of patients, including adults, children, and those with complex medical needs, ensuring a comprehensive approach to emergency healthcare. The department is also a key part of the hospital's trauma and critical care services, working closely with other specialties to provide seamless patient care.
As a Personal Assistant in the ED, you will play a crucial role in supporting the team with administrative and operational tasks, enabling staff to focus on patient care. This includes managing schedules, handling correspondence, organising meetings, and ensuring smooth communication within the department.The role requires excellent organisational skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a busy healthcare setting.
As a Personal Assistant to the Emergency Care Matrons at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals ED, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the senior leadership team in delivering high-quality emergency care.Your responsibilities will include managing diaries and calendars, coordinating meetings, preparing reports and documents, handling confidential information, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders. You will assist with operational tasks such as recruitment, ensuring efficient communication across teams, and supporting project coordination to improve department workflows.

- To provide a comprehensive range of secretarial, clerical & administrative functions to the Emergency Care Matron team, to co-ordinate administrative functions to ensure all tasks are carried out within agreed timescales.
- Post holder is required to work with a degree of autonomy on a variety of tasks, prioritising own workload on a day to day basis.
- To support the Emergency Care Matron team as required on team events and study days; including, booking venues, assisting in collating relevant paperwork and presentations.
- To organise meetings; including room bookings, Microsoft Teams meetings, liaising with chair in preparation of agendas, taking, typing and distribution of minutes/notes.
- To support the team in communicating with divisional personal assistants and Human Resources to track ESR’s to facilitate timely recruitment and establishment detail.
