This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who loves exploring data, building models, and communicating the findings to multi-disciplinary teams.
Whether you are an analyst, data scientist, computer scientist, social scientist or maths or physics whizz; we are less concerned by the specifics of your credentials and more interested by your curiosity and ability to creatively interpret data to solve problems.
To help focus improvement efforts, we need to understand the current situation and use evidence to identify specific areas that would benefit from improvement activities. We then need to monitor progress of the improvement project and prove a demonstrable improvement in patient outcomes.
To do this successfully, we need to be rigorous and employ effective analytical techniques to deliver unambiguous and robust insight of a complex health and social care system. Working with other members of the Information Team, you will utilise tools such as R, MS Excel, Simul8, Power BI and Power Apps to assist in data collection and analysis, create simulation models and write reports and papers providing in-depth analysis of data.

You'll be joining an ambitious team, comprising some of the most qualifies, experiences Improvement professionals in health and social care in Wales. Together, we lead, embed and champion Improvement across Wales - drawing on international best practice and evidence.As part of our new direction, we want to strengthen our team by recruiting new team members from diverse backgrounds with a mix of skills, personalities and experiences - considering candidates from both an NHS background as well as other sectors.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria- Qualified to Degree level or equivalent in a discipline such as operational research, mathematics, computer science, social science, data science or similar discipline, or an equivalent level of knowledge and skills.
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of communicating complex information to a non-technical audience
- Experience of performing complex analytical tasks, with minimum guidance
- Understanding of improvement methodology – specifically data and measurement including statistical process control
- Knowledge of social research methods such as survey design and evaluation
Skills
Essential criteria- Advanced IT skills with experience of using Microsoft Office applications – and particularly advanced MS Excel knowledge.
- Knowledge of programming (e.g. Visual Basic, Python) or database query (e.g. SQL) languages
- Developing visualisation utilising business intelligence tools such as Qliksense, R Shiny, Tableau or Power BI.
