We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Highly Specialist Clinician to join the Gloucestershire Eating Disorders Service.
The Eating Disorders Service at The Brownhill Centre, Cheltenham is seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Highly Specialist Eating Disorders Clinician to assist in the leadership of the community Team.
The Eating Disorders service is highly regarded and provides specialist assessment, treatment and support for individuals who are experiencing an eating disorder and their families within Gloucestershire. There is a strong focus on specialist therapies in the service and excellent clinical leadership and supervision within the team.
Main duties of the job- To provide specialist clinical knowledge and expertise for the eating disorders team
- To contribute toward the development and clinical practise of this highly specialist team.
- To work with the operational lead, lead psychologist, psychiatrists and service manager to employ, train, develop and support service staff.
- To provide consultation on Eating Disorders inside and outside of the organisation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Eating Disorders Service provides specialist evidence-based treatments on an individual and family basis for children, adolescents and adults with an eating disorder. The team also provides consultation, supervision and joint assessment, working with the Child and Adolescent and Adult Mental Health Services across Gloucestershire.The team provides advice, consultation and training to primary care, social care, voluntary and educational staff as well as members of the public. The team promotes an awareness of eating disorders and appropriate interventions to the wider public.
The Highly Specialist Clinician will be jointly responsible with the Operational Lead, Lead Psychologist and Psychiatrists for the development of the community team.
The post holder will be required to provide highly specialist assessment and intervention (individual and group), in accordance with the evidence base; to provide clinical supervision for team members; to provide consultation to colleagues in the Trust; to undertake research, and to participate in personal CPD and the provision of training to the eating disorders team and to the wider service.
The post holder will be professionally accountable for their work and will work within the ethical code of practice of the relevant professional body. He or she will be required to work within the framework of the Service’s policies and procedures, and will supervise, manage and support the work of less qualified team members and trainees.This post primarily involves assessment, including assessment and monitoring of risk, formulating, planning and implementing both individual and group interventions; consultancy to and supervision of a range of staff in mental health services; teaching and training; service audit/evaluation and research including guidance and supervision on relevant projects; case management and care co-ordination of their own clinical caseload.
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria- Professional qualification in a health discipline e.g. Clinical Psychology, MHSW, Psychiatry, OT, Mental Health Nursing
- Doctoral level education or specific training in at least two evidence-based psychotherapies e.g. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Family Therapy etc.
Experience
Essential criteria- Extensive experience of working with people with an eating disorder at a senior clinical level
- Clinical experience of both adolescent and adult eating disorders
- Experience of providing clinical supervision to individuals and groups from a range of disciplines
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Expert knowledge of eating disorders, their treatment and the physical and psychiatric risk factors associated with them
- Post graduate training in and experience of research and audit in a relevant area
