  • Our rolling stock client is looking to recruit Supervisors who will be leading teams of approximately 6 operatives on an aesthetics project for Thameslink stock (class 700)
  • The contract should last at least a year possibly up to 2 5
  • The painting involved is roller painting not spray painting It is also predominently internal not external although there may be some work with vinyl stickers to the external of the train
You should
  • Have CG Level 2 or highger (or equivalent)
  • Have experience supervising a team of vehicle technicians (all vehicles considered)
  • Be prepared to undergo a Network Rail DOA and Medical
  • Be prepared to undertake a course outside of work hours (course will be paid for)

Our client is a leading railway infrastructure company dedicated to delivering excellence in rail services and operations We are looking for 2 x skilled Paint Sprayer Supervisors for the Aesthetics Team who play a critical role in ensuring the visual quality and finish of rail industry components and vehicles This position involves overseeing a team of paint sprayers and technicians coordinating projects maintaining safety standards and delivering high-quality visually appealing results that meet both company and client expectations
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Supervision
&bull Manage mentor and lead the aesthetics team including paint sprayers and support staff
&bull Schedule daily tasks and ensure efficient allocation of resources
&bull Conduct regular team meetings to discuss project goals quality standards and safety protocols
Quality Assurance
&bull Inspect surfaces and finished products to ensure they meet industry and company standards for aesthetics durability and finish
&bull Monitor adherence to client specifications and make adjustments as needed
&bull Ensure proper preparation of surfaces including sanding cleaning and priming
Technical Expertise
&bull Oversee the application of paint using spray equipment ensuring even coats correct color matches and smooth finishes
&bull Troubleshoot equipment and process issues implementing solutions to minimize downtime
&bull Keep up-to-date with the latest paint technologies tools and industry trends
Project Management
&bull Coordinate with project managers and other departments to ensure timelines and budgets are met
&bull Track progress and maintain detailed records of all painting projects
&bull Manage inventory of paints solvents and related materials
Health Safety and Compliance
&bull Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations particularly those related to working with hazardous materials
&bull Enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean and safe work environment
&bull Provide training to team members on safe handling and application techniques
Continuous Improvement
&bull Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality
&bull Provide feedback to management on equipment and process upgrades

&bull Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge

Experience Skills
&bull Proven experience in the paint spraying field preferably within the rail or automotive industry
&bull Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
&bull Strong knowledge of paint types spray equipment and surface preparation techniques
&bull Familiarity with health and safety regulations especially COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)
&bull Excellent communication and organizational skills
&bull Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
