We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a combined Teaching Assistant and Mealtime Assistant. This role involves working under the direct instruction of teaching/senior staff, primarily in the classroom alongside the teacher, to support access to learning for pupils and provide general support in the management of pupils and the classroom.

The role also includes responsibilities as a Mealtime Assistant, ensuring a safe and supportive environment during meal times.

Day-to-day of the role:

As a Teaching Assistant:

  • Support the teacher in preparing and clearing the classroom for lessons.
  • Assist with the display of pupils' work and undertake general clerical/organisational tasks.
  • Support small groups or individual pupils, including those with special educational needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
  • Attend to the personal care needs of pupils and implement related personal programmes.
  • Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils, encouraging them to interact and engage in activities.
  • Support the curriculum by helping pupils understand instructions and use equipment/resources as directed.

As a Mealtime Assistant:

  • Supervise pupils during meal times, ensuring a safe and orderly environment.
  • Encourage good nutritional habits and proper table manners among pupils.
  • Assist in the setup and cleanup of the dining area.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
  • Experience in supporting children, particularly those with special educational needs, is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish good relationships with pupils.
  • Awareness of child protection, health, safety, and security protocols.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work with different age groups and learning needs.
