Learning Support Assistant

Temporary, full-time, Preston

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our vibrant team in Preston. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with their academic and personal development, helping them to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with additional learning needs.
  • Assist in the preparation of learning materials and resources.
  • Help students with tasks in class, ensuring they can fully participate in lessons.
  • Support teachers in managing classroom behaviour and creating a positive learning environment.
  • Work closely with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to develop and implement tailored learning strategies.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, offering feedback to teachers and parents.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational setting.
  • A passion for helping others and making a difference in students’ lives.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to working with diverse student needs.

Desirable:

  • A relevant qualification in education or special educational needs (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
  • Previous experience supporting students with special educational needs (SEN).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
