An opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse on Ward10 Aintree site
Full time and part time hours will be considered and will involve working internal rotation from days to night shifts. The applicant is also expected to work bank holidays and weekends.
Main duties of the job
Ward 10 is a busy adult gastroenterology ward with a range of patients of all ages and gastro medical conditions.
No previous experience is required for any applicants wishing to apply but would be an advantage if you have some background experience in caring for adults in a hospital setting with gastrointestinal medical conditions.
The ward offers the suitable candidate the opportunity to work within our respected multidisciplinary team. There are opportunities to continue with further study in the gastro field.
We expect our nursing team to adhere to the trusts values and behaviours at all times and the ward sister expects all the staff to work to the high standards set out by the trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Participate in maintaining a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for all patients and carers and maintain agreed standards of nursing care.
Determines nursing priorities and plans patient care. Informs the nurse incharge when changes in circumstances may affect patient care.
Maintain nursing records in accordance with the NMC and Trust guidelines.
Maintain and improve quality of patient care through contribution to thedevelopment of Essence of Care and clinical benchmarking within the unit.
Ensure due regard is given to customs, values and spiritual beliefs ofpatients.
Providing information and support to patients/carers, and ensuring all those involved in the care are aware of changes in the patients’ condition.
Assist in the safe custody, checking and administration of drugs

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Registered Nurse, current NMC registration
- Diploma in Nursing
- Mentorship/teaching qualification
- Post registration qualification in relevant specialty
Experience
Essential criteria- Post registration experience and successful completion of band 5 foundation gateway competencies
- Experience within relevant clinical setting
- Evidence of maintaining a clinical learning environment.
- Evidence of working with students
- Recent acute hospital experience [including as a student nurse]
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Knowledge of current nursing issues and clinical governance
- Demonstrates awareness of own limitations
Skills
Essential criteria- Ability to organise workload and delegate tasks appropriately
