An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 post within the Interventional Cardiology (IC) Specialist Nurse Team. The post holder should have extensive Cardiology experience at a senior level and an understanding of the SpN services within the department.

The post holder should hold a First level degree in Nursing and be willing to, or have master’s level study. They should ideally have, or be working towards, both non-medical prescribing and clinical skills.

Main duties of the job

The main aspects of the role are to provide equitable care to patients in relation to management and treatment of their coronary artery disease across the whole patient pathway. This is a busy and varied role that has a huge impact on patient care and service delivery.

The nurse provides support, information and advice to patients, carers and other members of the multi-disciplinary team enhancing service provision and streamlining patient focused care.

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience working within cardiology
  • Current teaching experience
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working collaboratively with multidisciplinary professional
  • Experience of providing counselling to patients/relatives and supporting staff

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Advanced level of knowledge in cardiology and management of cardiology patients

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Registered general nurse
  • Nursing degree or equivalent experience
  • Masters in Nursing, working towards or willing to work towards
  • Clinical skills for advanced practitioners
  • Non-Medical Prescribing qualification or working toward
  • Recognisable teaching qualification
  • Current NMC Registration
