The Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) is seeking an enthusiastic, hardworking and motivated Receptionist to complement our current reception team at the Friarage Hospital.

Our UTC is very busy and dynamic with over 100 patients a day attending for treatment.

Our team is friendly, motivated and committed to providing a high quality expert care for all the patients we see and treat. Not only is the efficient running of the reception integral to the patients’ journey, it is often the patients and relatives first point of contact in the department.

Candidates should have worked in a clerical / administration environment and have used a patient administration system. Good communication skills, effective keyboard skills and the ability to organise workload are essential criteria for the post.

Main duties of the job

Input and retrieve information from the Trust’s Computerised Information Systems

General office duties including photocopying, faxing, filing and retrieving notes from file or the database &:

  • Photocopying appointments, referral notes and fracture clinics
  • Deal efficiently with incoming and outgoing mail
  • Dispose of records in appropriate containers
  • Sort and send letters to General Practitioners
  • Any other general duties as required

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
  • GCSE’s A-C (Maths & English) or equivalent qualification / experience
  • NVQ 2 in Business Administration or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Typing Qualification
  • IT Qualification

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of clerical processes
  • Efficient and accurate word processing skills
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in a clinical setting
  • Knowledge of hospital patient administration system
