Are you ready to take on a role where your expertise will shape the future of data protection within a dynamic organisation? TorusGroup is seeking a talented and passionate Group Data Protection Officer to join our team and play a pivotal role in safeguarding
data. This is a permanent role based in Liverpool with travel to other sites in the North West required.
As the Group Data Protection Officer, you’ll be the go-to expert on all things data protection, driving compliance, shapingpolicy, and championing best practices. Reporting directly to Legal Counsel, you’ll work collaboratively across all levels of the
organisation, offering advice, training, and assurance to ensure Torus continues to meet and exceed regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Oversee data protection policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with GDPR and other
- Compliance Champion: Act as the nominated DPO, providing assurance to senior leadership and supporting the Group’s ambitions
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Provide high-quality, practical advice to managers and ensure the adoption of best practices across
- Data Breach Management: Investigate data protection breaches, implement remedial actions, and act as the primary contact for
- Training and Development: Deliver training, guidance, and practical solutions to promote a culture of data protection
- Risk Management: Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs), advising on
- Innovation: Develop and streamline processes to support compliance while enhancing operational efficiency.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re searching for an experienced and proactive professional who’s ready to make an impact. The ideal candidate will bring:
- Expert Knowledge: A proven track record in managing data protection within a complex organisation, with a professional
- Practical Experience: Hands-on experience in GDPR compliance, handling Subject Access Requests, and transforming business
- Leadership Skills: The ability to supervise and develop team members, including mentoring a data protection apprentice.
- Stakeholder Engagement: A collaborative approach to working across all levels of the organisation, delivering measurable
- Analytical Mindset: A detail-oriented focus on risk and assurance frameworks, with a commitment to robust and practical
solutions.
Interview Process:
- The interview process will consist of two stages. The first stage will be held in person at our Liverpool City Centre office on
the 10th and 11th of February 2025. The final stage will take place via Microsoft Teams on Friday, the 14th of February 2025.
Each successful applicant will be required to complete the following pre-employment checks prior to a start date being agreed:- Right to work verification
- Qualification certificate check
- 2x Completed references
- OH Health Questionnaire – Fit For Work
- DBS check (if required for role)
- Completion of all new starter documentation including signed T&C’s
