To bolster our efforts and continue to provide high quality, patient focussed services, we are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Ward 12 team, as part of our Adult Inpatient & Urgent Care division.

We are looking for a doctor who is passionate and committed to the development of psychiatry and who is able to support our Adult Inpatient & Urgent Care division.

The role is full-time at 10PAs per week.

Main duties of the job

To provide a full range of psychiatric treatments to the inpatients of a 20 bed unit acute psychiatric ward at the Department of Psychiatry, Pilgrim Hospital, Boston. The ward has approximately 250 admissions per year. To provide clinical leadership to the inpatient facilities.
This will consist of leading the multi-disciplinary input to patients at ward rounds, facilitating individual care plans and treatment. To provide, on an agreed reciprocal basis, consultant cover in the short term absence of consultant colleagues.
To participate in the consultant on-call rota (approximately 1 in 15 on-call). On-call duties cover adults of all ages within inpatients areas for adult, older adult, forensic and learning disability services. The rota is a low frequency, mainly telephone advisory service, currently categorised as B.

Whilst on-call, the post-holder will be expected to offer expertise and support where necessary to the trainees on-call.

Qualifications and Eligibility

Essential criteria
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice
  • Included on the GMC Specialist register, or within 6 months of completing
  • Approved Clinician status, or able to achieve within 3 months of completing
  • Approved under Section 12(2) or able to achieve within 3 months of completing
  • MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
Desirable criteria
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
  • Additional clinical qualifications
