About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Network Engineer/Administrator to join our IT team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and maintaining our internal network infrastructure, with a particular focus on Cisco and Fortinet devices.Additionally, you will act as the primary liaison for networks between our organisation and our Managed Service Provider (MSP), which is responsible for the data centres and associated networks, routers, and firewalls.
You will also assist with network design and implementation within our Azure and AWS Cloud infrastructure.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with hands-on experience in network administration and strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with external partners.

Requirements
Main Accountabilities
Network Administration- Manage, configure, and troubleshoot internal Cisco switches, access points etc. to ensure optimal network performance.
- Oversee and maintain Fortinet firewallconfiguration management, including rules configuration, and monitoring for security threats.
- Manage other cloud-based network environments – Azure and AWS
- Monitor network performance and implement improvements to ensure uptime and reliability.
- Conduct routine audits of network systems to ensure compliance with security policies and standards.
- Act as the main point of contact between the organisation and the MSP network teams responsible for data centre networking, Intra-site network infrastructure, and managed firewalls/switches.
- Coordinate and escalate issues to the MSP, ensuring swift resolution and minimal impact on business operations.
- Assist in planning and implementing upgrades, migrations, and new deployments managed by the MSP.
- Monitor and maintain network security, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organisational policies, as well as implementing appropriate access controls and authentication mechanisms.
- Implement and maintain firewall rules, VPNs, and access control lists, performing configuration management control to ensure configurations are backed up and stored securely. Also contribute to disaster recovery plans, and business continuity measures.
- Support Hardware lifecycle management– ensuring equipment is kept up to date and patched against security threats, as well as ensuring the devices remain supportable by suppliers - planning for replacements as they become necessary.
- Stay updated on emerging threats and recommend necessary updates to enhance network security.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures.
- Provide regular reports on network performance, incidents, and resolutions.
- Participate in regular review meetings with the MSP to discuss network performance, incidents, and upcoming projects.
- Proven experience in managing Cisco switches (configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization).
- Hands-on expertise with Fortinet firewall configuration and security management.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, VLANs, VPNs).
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and techniques.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to liaise effectively with external providers.
- Experience in maintaining network documentation and ensuring compliance with security standards.
- Knowledge of data centre operations and infrastructure.
- Knowledge of Azure and AWS networking
- Experience with other firewall and security solutions.
- Relevant certifications, such as CCNA/CCNP, Fortinet NSE, or equivalent.
- ITIL v3 Foundation certified and experience in ITIL aligned environments
