The Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Business Development Associate to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the end-to-end process of identifying and bringing in new business into PUBLIC.
You will support a wide range of different business development activities at PUBLIC. This includes working closely with team members across PUBLIC to identify business development and partnership opportunities. You will also coordinate internally to manage and organise opportunities, with a focus on creating compelling proposals, bids and pitches to help to win new business.
Your key responsibilities will include
Contributing to PUBLIC’s proposals and business development activities:
- Engaging potential and current partners and clients in PUBLIC's projects and mission.
- Working with the Business Development (Growth) Manager to manage the end-to-end business development process, ensuring all deadlines and milestones are met.
- Developing effective proposals, bids and pitches in response to identified business development opportunities.
- Coordinating with internal subject matter experts, technical teams, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for proposal submissions.
- Reviewing and editing proposal documents to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with all guidelines and specifications.
- Collaborating with teams across PUBLIC to keep our shared knowledge base up-to-date and ensure everyone has access to the latest best practices, tools, and resources.
Working with internal and external stakeholders to drive new business:
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders across different departments, including technical delivery teams, marketing, and operations..
- Acting as the central point of contact for proposal-related communications, keeping all stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the process.
- Facilitating internal proposal kick-off and follow up meetings to track progress, address challenges, and ensure alignment.
Proposal database management:
- Maintaining and updating our repository of proposal resources, including case studies, project summaries, and team qualifications.
- Identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposal management process, including enhancements to the proposal database and workflow systems.
Requirements
What we’re looking for
This role is a development position. As such we are interested in candidates with a great attitude and demonstrable potential to learn quickly and achieve. Technical skills and experience will be valued, but are not necessities for the role. We will work with you to put in place learning and development opportunities to set you up for success.

Technical skills:
PUBLIC uses MacBooks and a variety of software platforms, with Google Workspace at the core of our operations. We’re looking for someone with a technical mindset who can quickly learn new software and is comfortable finding resources to troubleshoot or improve their skills as needed.
What you don’t need
A traditional educational background, or specific experience with proposal or bid writing. We are looking for people with transferrable skills, the right attitude, a willingness to learn, and a passion for what we do.
Visa
This role is based in the United Kingdom, and therefore requires the successful candidate to have obtained the right to work in the UK prior to employment.

Salary for this position will be £33,724.26 per annum depending on skills and experience.

- Step 2: 15-minute screening call with a member of our People team (topics: your background, role logistics, your questions about PUBLIC)
- Step 3: 45-minute skills-based interview (includes a presentation-based task)
- Step 4: 30-minute values-based interview
- On some occasions, we might arrange an additional informal chat with a member of Senior Management after your final interview.
