Qualified Teacher Pay Range +
TLR 2C (currently £3,391 per annum)
Required from September 2025
An opportunity has arisen within our successful and highly skilled team for a teacher to join our school as a teacher of Maths, in addition we are looking for someone to lead and co-ordinate our unique and bespoke “Scholars’ pathway”.
At Turton our children are fiercely loyal, and so we are looking for someone who is just as committed to them. This is an opportunity for someone to work with our collaborative, forward-thinking and reflective maths team. You would be joining a team of passionate, committed, hard-working and supportive teachers. We are looking for someone that is just as passionate; someone that understands the varying and complex needs of teaching years 7 – 11 and enjoys doing so. We are seeking a highly skilled practitioner, who flourishes by teaching the building blocks of maths and is able to ignite curiosity and wonder and who can help children retain their knowledge and have the confidence to build on it.
Additionally, we are looking for a talented and inspiring individual to co-ordinate our Scholars’ Pathway. This pathway is now entering its ninth year of operation at Turton, offering an enhanced curriculum opportunity for a highly-able and dedicated group of students in each year group.
Students are identified for the Scholars’ Pathway via a primary to secondary transition test, SATs scores and feedback from year 6 teachers. Students are then placed in a form together and follow a carefully designed scholars’ curriculum throughout KS3, leading to attaining the ‘Turton Baccalaureate’, including Latin, Classics, Leadership and Oracy. Our top 30 students aspire to progress to one of the Russell group universities.
The current post-holder of the Scholars’ Pathway has led the programme for 8 years, and would now like to hand over the reins to someone with fresh eyes and creative energy.
The role will involve working closely with the students and their parents, as well as guiding and steering the curriculum work, period 6 sessions and curriculum enhancement. This is an excellent opportunity to influence bright minds and prepare students for future academic success.
Teachers are our most valued resource; thus, professional development is at the heart of our practice. We run our innovative and highly effective ‘Triad’ programme – a collaborative programme that supports everyone’s development, no matter what their level of experience. This is within a school culture that values all staff, promotes well-being and prioritises a manageable workload.
Teaching is an ever-changing job, but the things we can guarantee are:
- Location: Bromley Cross (rural suburbs of Bolton)
- Train station 2 minutes from school
- A unique ECF programme that runs for 4 years (not just 2)
- Every ECT has a dedicated coach and subject guide
- Opportunities for career development
- Bespoke CPD opportunities
- Contract: permanent
- Flexible working considered
- A warm, caring, dedicated set of colleagues, who are very keen to learn from you
