Provide Diagnostic Imaging and Ultrasound Services at the main Moorfields site including the Trusts satellite Clinics, Private Patients and Richard Desmond Childrens Eye Centre. Support junior staff to develop skills and help to embed a continuous quality improvement culture across the service.
There is also an occasional requirement of providing imaging services out of normal working hours including some Saturday work. Clinical Practice 1. To provide the full range of routine and specialised imaging techniques which require expert knowledge of Ophthalmology anatomy and disorders to demonstrate the condition correctly photographed and to ensure that the correct type of imaging Modality and technique is used.
2. To be an expert in performing and analysing ophthalmic images using standard techniques and any other new techniques or devices deemed appropriate by the Head of Department. 3. To perform Slit-Lamp imaging of the anterior segment of the eye and possess knowledge of the use of Topical Stains when appropriate and necessary.
4. To record angiography of the anterior segment using retinal imaging devices. 5. To provide Clinical imaging of the external eye and ocular adnexa. 6. To undertake Optical Coherence Tomography of the retina and the disc using different imaging modalities.
7. To identify types of drop instillation of various drugs required to facilitate good quality imaging of the eye. 8. To advise and provide advanced / novel imaging techniques as required to reflect the clinical diagnostic question. 9. To assist and provide advice to medical staff in the diagnoses of patient conditions as required.
10. To provide a high-quality service for research projects and clinical trials. 11. To appraise new devices and techniques for clinical implementation as deemed appropriate by changes in technology and clinical approach to patient care. 12. To work under clearly defined policies and work practice.

13. To deal with adverse reactions to fluorescein, or other imaging agents, there may be occasional exposure to distressing circumstances. Ophthalmic Imaging Investigations: Optical Coherence Tomography. Angio Optical Coherence Tomography. Colour Fundus Photography. Photo Slit-Lamp Photography. Stereo Imaging. Fluorescein Angiography. Indocyanine Green Angiography. Autofluorescence. Optos Imaging. Anterior Segment OCT. External and Studio Photography. Ultrasound B scanning including follow up patients for the oncology service, writing a report on findings and accurately measuring the dimensions of lesions.

Other responsibilities 1. The post holder will work as a point of contact for the department for education and training. 2. Contribute to the delivery of the Trusts strategic agenda. 3. Contribute to the development of the profession. 4. Promote the profession and represent Moorfields locally and at a national and international level.
5. Support the development and maintenance of policies, guidance, protocols and procedures. 6. Act as an advocate for ultrasound and ophthalmic imaging training and education. 7. Maintain standards and practice in accordance with Professional Code of Conduct guidelines, national guidelines and local Trust policies/guidelines.
8. Be conversant with Trust Policies and guidelines and ensure compliance. 9. Be actively involved in the department and Trust wide clinical governance strategy. This will include participation in clinical governance activities at Division and Trust level.
10. Be aware of departmental risk and work with the Head of Department to reduce/mitigate risk. 11. Well-developed physical skills (manual dexterity). 12. Responsibility for the safe use of expensive and highly complex imaging equipment. 13. Work within scope of practice. 14. Actively participate in departmental teaching and training sessions.
15. Actively participate in audit and continuously review own work to maintain and improve quality of imaging performed. 16. Undertake all mandatory training and identify the knowledge and skills needed for successful personal development. 17. Provide computer graphic services and operate several information systems relating to imaging and assisting medical staff in downloading clinical images and printing.
18. There is a frequent requirement for sitting in a restricted position for a substantial proportion of the working time whilst performing imaging tasks. 19. This role will require frequent intensive concentration. 20. Dealing with adverse reactions to fluorescein or other intravenous imaging agents, there may be occasional exposure to distressing circumstances.
21. Carry out simple maintenance and calibration of equipment. 22. Make departmental representations when necessary and when requested by senior managers. 23. Maintain high quality standard across all work. 24. Actively engage in research projects when opportunities arise.
Leadership 1. Lead, manage and motivate imaging staff, ensuring appropriate management structures, policies and practices are in place to achieve high levels of performance. 2. Work with the Head of Imaging & Ultrasound to support the delivery of safe, efficient, and effective imaging care.

3. Troubleshoot and escalate any capacity and demand concerns to Head of Imaging & Ultrasound. 4. Liaise and work collaboratively with other stakeholders to effectively manage the day to day running of Service.
