We are looking for a Technical Lead to help shape the future roadmap of the Data Platform. You'll be a hands on developer building out framework enhancements with optimise the Data Platform for current and future usage.

You'll also help shape how we grow our Data Engineering service, providing mentorship to new engineers.

My team works across all functions in Quilter and you'll get the opportunity to work with experienced data professionals and help shape how we deliver our data services going forward.

The Lead Data Engineer will follow the Quilter's Software Development Community of Practice, and Data Centre of Excellence processes to ensure there is an embedded and sustainable Software Development Operating Model for Data Services.

Our Data Engineers develop and maintain data ingestion, storage, processing and integration solutions through Quilter's Azure Data Platform.

You will collaborate alongside other members of the team and Product Owner in producing testable, maintainable, and high-quality data solutions and following Quilter's development practices.

In this role you will also support the migration of existing legacy solutions onto the Quilter strategic data platform and contribute to the adoption of a standard data solution methodology to be implemented across the organisation. You will also be involved in driving Framework extensions and reducing technical debt.

You'll input into backlog prioritisation by providing technical background knowledge and technical risk assessment to be including alongside business priorities.

In this role you will be expected to act as a technical lead for a release, ensuring Quality, best practice and continuous improvements drive decisions.

Our ideal candidate will have extensive and demonstrable technical knowledge in key areas such as Azure Data Services, Spark and Python, Data Pipelines and DevOps.

In addition to this you will be a thought leader, with the ability to bring a team of technical engineers together and drive prioritisation of technical deliveries alongside business requirements.

You will work with the Technology Product Owner to manage task assignments and risk escalation, with a focus on quality, collaboration and team work.

Importantly, you will lead with an agile approach and embrace change to successfully deliver better ways of working and achieve positive outcomes for our customers.

To be successful in this role, you will need proven experience in one or more of the following:

  • Azure Data Services (including Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake)
  • Microsoft BI experience (SSAS, SSRS, Power BI and other Power Platform)
  • SQL including T-SQL (Queries, views, stored procedures, functions)
  • Integration and ETL design and delivery Including (SSIS, Azure Data Factory)
  • Data visualisation (Tableau, QlikView, Power BI, Business Objects)
  • Developing analytical use cases using Spark programming in Python and one other language (e.g. R, and Scala)
