Senior Paralegal - Occupational Disease

This role sits within our Casualty team in Birmingham and requires a motivated Senior Paralegal with experience in occupational disease litigation, including NIHL and asbestos related claims. You will work on technically interesting matters, supporting senior fee earners while developing your own expertise in this specialist area.

This role offers a hybrid working pattern from our Birmingham office, with 2-3 days per week in the office.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the handling of defendant personal injury and disease claims, including NIHL and asbestos related matters.
- Support senior fee earners with all stages of litigation, including disclosure, witness and expert evidence and preparation for Joint Settlement Meetings (JSMs) and trials.
- Act as a trusted and reliable member of the team, taking ownership of allocated tasks such as updating files, reviewing confidential records and liaising with third parties.
- Engage with clients, insurers and other stakeholders to gather, organise and progress information effectively.
- Provide administrative and case management support to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the legal team.
- Progress cases in line with departmental procedures, client service standards and agreed protocols.
What will help you succeed in this role? :
Essential- Experience working on defendant casualty and personal Injury matters, with specific experience in occupational disease claims.
- Familiarity with Employer’s Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) claims, including managing your own caseload and/or supporting more senior fee earners.
- Experience of handling medical records and expert evidence in a litigation context.
- Experience using a case management system.
- A proven ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships with clients, insurers and colleagues.
- Previous experience working within the insurance sector.
