Responsible for the assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of nursing care for a specified group of patients as delegated by senior nursing staff, involving patients and carers where appropriate.
Acts as a team leader, delegating appropriate tasks and supervising the standard of care delivered by unqualified staff and learner nurses in the ward team.
We are looking to recruit Post Preceptorship Registered Nurses with experience or an interest in Surgery.
Main duties of the job- 1 Deliver a high standard of nursing care without direct supervision, based upon a sound evidence base.
- 2 Undertakes and documents a comprehensive, systematic and accurate nursing assessment of the physical, social and spiritual needs of the patient where appropriate.
- 3 Creates and utilises opportunities to promote health and well-being of patients in their care.
- 4 Manage a group of patients throughout a shift as delegated by nurse charge.
- 5 Working within the N.M.C Guidelines and Trust Policies recognising limits of their competence.

- 1 In the absence of senior colleagues manages the Ward/Department on occasions without direct supervision when competent to do so.
- 2 Use computerised systems to support the provision of patient care and treatment.
- 3 Work within Clinical Governance Standards and Trust Policies.
- 4 Ensure that concerns and complaints from patients, visitors or colleagues are resolved where possible and reported to the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.
