About the Role
Our client, a successful and ambitious secondary school in West Yorkshire, is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire students and contribute to a dynamic English department.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 if applicable.
- Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment that supports all students in achieving their potential.
- Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing timely feedback and implementing interventions where necessary.
- Contribute to curriculum development, ensuring lessons are aligned with national standards and school objectives.
- Maintain high expectations of student behaviour, fostering a positive and respectful classroom culture.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice and stay updated with educational best practices.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and carers to support student learning and progress.
- Participate in extracurricular activities, school events, and wider school initiatives as required.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in English or a related subject.
- Experience teaching English at secondary level.
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for literature and language.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
- A commitment to raising attainment and supporting student progress.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable:
- Experience teaching English at Key Stage 5.
- Familiarity with current GCSE and A-Level specifications.
- Experience in leading or contributing to extracurricular activities such as debate clubs, creative writing groups, or school productions.
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to support diverse learning needs.
