Senior Paralegal – Technical Recoveries - Leeds, Newcastle or Birmingham - Hybrid
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Paralegal to join our Technical Recoveries Team. In this role, you will manage a caseload of debt recovery matters on behalf of one or more DWF Clients, from scoping matters referred into the Technical Team to achieving time-critical deliverables, all while adhering to budget constraints and legal parameters.
Responsibilities:
- Provide ad hoc advice and guidance to Clients and colleagues on non-referred matters.
- Brief Counsel for complex matters.
- Review matters at the point of referral, providing specific and proportionate scopes divisible into discrete tasks.
- Handle various legal matters including pre-action disputes, drafting legal documents, negotiating settlements, making court applications, and preparing for hearings/trials.
- Communicate scopes to Clients and keep them informed of progress throughout.
- Interact with third parties, including Litigants In Person, legal representatives, and Courts.
- Take care and conduct of legal matters, progressing them through to conclusion.
- Utilize the Liberate case management system effectively.
- Provide line management and limited supervisory responsibility for junior team members.
- Report regularly to the Specialist Manager on matters under your responsibility.
What will help you succeed in this role? :
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience handling debt recovery cases.
- Experience handling more complex claims e.g. Fast Track/Intermediate.
- Experience managing claims from receipt of claim form or defence through to trial.
Desirable:
- Strong organisational skills, capable of managing and prioritizing a caseload of under 100 cases.
- Strategic thinking and decisive, action-focused decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in ICT, including intermediate keyboard skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, legal research abilities, and technical competencies.
- Interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within a diverse team and across other business units.
- Demonstrate integrity, engage in open debate, and foster a culture of sharing best practices and reporting issues without fear.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for correspondence via email, letters, telephone, and video conferences.
