Content Strategist (London) (1-year FTC)
Founded in 2001, Resident Advisor (RA) is one of the world's longest-running music media brands and a cornerstone of the dance, electronic and DJ ecosystem. The site's audience of over 6 million monthly users is drawn in by a combination of news, editorial, club listings and ticketing, RA-branded events at venues and festivals worldwide, original films and a weekly mix series that has run for 18 years.
Purpose of the role: The Content Strategist will define and execute Resident Advisor’s creative vision across video, social, and multimedia content. This leadership role demands expertise in audience growth, platform optimisation, and brand alignment, driving Resident Advisor’s content to new heights of engagement, innovation, and revenue potential.
Key responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Collaborate with editorial leadership (Editor, Deputy, and Managing) to develop and evolve content strategies across video, social, and podcasts, ensuring alignment with Resident Advisor’s vision and growth objectives.
- Continuously develop and refine a comprehensive content strategy across video, social, and podcast platforms, ensuring alignment with Resident Advisor’s growth and audience engagement objectives.
- Set a clear agenda and schedule for content creation, platform usage, and team organisation to ensure maximum impact and efficiency.
- Integrate data and audience insights into the decision-making process, using performance metrics to continuously refine and optimise strategies.
- Lead discussions around performance tactics, focusing on views, engagement, growth, and content quality.
- Oversee content ideation and execution, maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, and creative innovation.
Team Leadership:
- Act as the primary leadership point for integrating video, social, revenue, and editorial teams.
- Manage and mentor the Channel Manager, A/V Producer, and social team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation, while providing strategic leadership to senior stakeholders including the CCBO and Editor.
- Establish workflows, creative development processes, and decision-making structures that support team efficiency and alignment.
Platform Optimisation:
- Stay ahead of platform trends, ensuring content strategies are cutting-edge and audience-focused.
- Collaborate closely with the Channel Manager to optimise Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook content while supporting YouTube’s long-form strategies.
- Work with the podcast and video teams to ensure a video-first approach to audio content, maximising multi-platform distribution opportunities.
Monetisation & Revenue Growth:
- Collaborate with commercial teams to ensure content strategies align with revenue goals.
- Identify and execute monetisation opportunities for content, branded partnerships, and platform-specific ad revenue.
We’re looking for:
- Significant experience in a leadership role within content creation, social media, or digital marketing, ideally in music, entertainment, or cultural industries.
- A proven track record of developing and executing data-driven content strategies that drive audience growth and engagement.
- Experience in content monetisation, branded partnerships, and revenue-generating initiatives.
- Expertise in managing cross-functional teams, including video production, social media, and editorial.
- Strong creative vision and storytelling ability, with experience in multimedia formats.
- Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to craft clear, engaging, and on-brand copy, alongside meticulous attention to detail in editing and proofreading.
- In-depth knowledge of platform-specific best practices, analytics, and optimisation techniques.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to align diverse teams around a shared vision.
- A passion for electronic music culture and a strong understanding of Resident Advisor’s audience is highly advantageous.
