An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Pharmacist to work within the Pharmacy Workforce Development team at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. We are looking for a dynamic and skilled pharmacist with a passion for education and development to work with our forward-thinking team to support and influence the future pharmacist workforce.

This post has been created to support the delivery of our undergraduate pharmacy placement programme, provide leadership for our 3rd year Foundation Pharmacists and also contribute to the pharmacy workforce strategy within the Integrated Care System (ICS) supporting the implementation of the initial education and training of pharmacists and advanced pharmacist development programme.

Main duties of the job

Be responsible for providing effective professional leadership and expert advice as regards to the education, training, and development of pharmacy staff to ensure the department provides a safe, efficient, standardised service that meets the needs of patients and local stakeholders.

To work collaboratively with key stakeholders within STW ICS, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and wider organisations to develop and deliver a clear strategy and vision for the transformation of the pharmacy workforce, in line with the NHS Long Term Plan, the NHS People Plan, the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan, and the Trust’s workforce strategy and other relevant business plans.

To work with the Pharmacy Team Leader for Education and Training to assess and identify new education and training needs and opportunities to support the Trust and departmental implementation of the workforce development strategy.

To work with the Pharmacy Team Leader for Education and Training provide oversight, assurance, and evaluation for the delivery of pharmacy staff training, development, and transformation.

In conjunction with the Pharmacy Team Leader for Education and Training and other members of the pharmacy senior leadership team, to implement and evaluate clear development frameworks for all members of the pharmacy team, from pharmacy assistants and administrative staff to senior clinical pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, and scientific and technical staff.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered with GPhC
  • Postgraduate education in Pharmacy Practice
  • Honours Degree in Pharmacy / MPharm
Desirable criteria
  • Registered Independent Prescriber
  • Postgraduate teaching qualification (e.g. CertEd)
  • Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant post registration experience in Hospital Pharmacy
  • Significant experience of hospital pharmacy if not working in that sector currently
  • Experience of MDT working with example
  • Experience of documenting in notes with example
  • Experience of training pharmacy staff with example
  • Experience of audit
Desirable criteria
  • Project management/report writing example
  • Policy/guideline writing with example
  • Staff management with description
  • Prereg tutor/Foundation pharmacist designated supervisor experience
