This opportunity is in the solution design and development arena for IT Technician who will play a major role with the technical design and development of the company’s technical offerings. The position is based at our Leicester office with occasional assignments at client locations.

Job Description (Main Duties and Responsibilities):
Provide first-line support for hardware and software issues. Assist users with troubleshooting and resolving technical problems via phone, email, and in-person.
Perform regular maintenance on systems and networks, including software updates, backups, and security checks.
Install, configure, and upgrade computer hardware, software, and network components as needed.
Maintain accurate records of IT issues, resolutions, and inventory. Update technical documentation and user manuals.
Assist in the management of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
Provide training and support to staff on IT-related topics and software applications.
Work closely with other IT team members to identify and resolve complex issues and implement IT projects.
Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking principles. Familiarity with Windows and macOS operating systems.
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills. Ability to work under pressure and resolve issues quickly.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated.

Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience Needed [The candidate must demonstrate these in all stages of assessment]
3 to 4 years of experience in IT technician or a related field.
Knowledge of hardware components and software applications.
Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux).

Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).

Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications) demonstrate a commitment to professional development.
Proficiency in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting computer hardware components (e.g., CPUs, RAM, hard drives, peripherals).
Expertise in managing and troubleshooting various operating systems, primarily Windows and macOS, with some familiarity in Linux.
Knowledge of setting up and configuring routers, switches, and firewalls.
Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, including antivirus software, firewalls, and best practices for protecting data and systems.
Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and their application in managing IT resources.
Understanding of IT security principles and best practices.
Basic knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automating repetitive tasks.
Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues.

Experience with user account creation, management, and permissions in Active Directory or similar systems.
