You will provide a service of excellence, which is primarily responsible for meeting the needs of Trust employees, but also external contracts from both the private and public sector.
You will apply limited specialist knowledge and skills to undertake a clinical service, and other varied responsibilities of the post.

Working to best practice, carry out a comprehensive range of pre/post-employment health screening and associated health surveillance in order to respond positively to legislative requirements.- To carry out Work Health Assessment screening and associated health surveillance in order to respond positively to legislative requirements.
- Provide professional Occupational Health Nursing care, by assessing the needs of individual clients, obtaining medical and occupational histories in a systematic manner and instigating suitable programmes of care/advice in conjunction with the Senior Occupational Health Nurse Adviser, or according to locally agreed protocols, as well as ensuring that clinical records are kept for all employee contacts as appropriate.
- To establish and maintain up to date vaccination programmes for all personnel who are at risk of exposure to pathogens during the course of their work; including contact tracing when deemed necessary. Whilst maintaining an effective recall system using the Occupational Health database.
- To carry out eyesight testing in line with the Display Screen Equipment Regulations, and make recommendations after consultation (where necessary) with the Senior Occupational Health Nurse Adviser.
- To advise employees following contaminated sharps injury or bodily fluid exposure, undertaking risk assessment and advising on the appropriate action in line with department protocols. To liaise with the OHP or Sexual health consultant if PEP is required.

The Occupational Health department works as a multi-disciplinary team to provide a proactive service to all members of staff and covers all areas of the working environment, working to national guidelines and benchmarks to maintain the staffs’ well-being both physical and psychological.
