We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with a water bias to join our team on an exciting and prestigious government facilities management contract in the heart of London. This is an incredible opportunity to work on a Grade II listed government office building*, HM Treasury/HMRC, where your expertise will directly impact the maintenance and operation of essential systems.
About the Role:As a Mechanical Engineer with a water systems focus, you'll be responsible for maintaining mechanical systems, including domestic and closed water systems, plumbing, air conditioning, pressure systems, and supporting the team with building fabric and electrical systems.
You will be the first line of response for reactive maintenance and will perform routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks, ensuring compliance with relevant safety standards.
This is a site-based role where no two days will be the same! You'll have the chance to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, with exposure to a wide range of building systems and cutting-edge technologies. Working within the esteemed HM Treasury/HMRC, you will be a vital part of the team keeping this landmark building functioning smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems, focusing on plumbing, water systems, and air conditioning.
- Manage the maintenance and repair of pressure systems.
- Respond promptly to reactive tasks, diagnosing issues, sourcing parts, and ensuring timely resolutions.
- Support the engineering team and liaise with subcontractors to ensure work is carried out to the highest standards.
- Maintain compliance with the Approved Codes of Practice for all work carried out.
- Ensure safety and quality are always a priority.
What We're Looking For:
- L8 qualified (Legionella Management).
- City & Guilds or equivalent NVQ in Plumbing and Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with building services and mechanical systems in a facilities management environment.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with various teams.
- 18th Edition Test & Inspection qualification is desirable.
- A full clean driving licence.
- Ability to gain CTC clearance if not already held.
