Carers / Support Worker wanted, £12 p/hour

Support Worker is responsible for the maintenance of the client’s physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual and social well-being. Main priority is to assist and encourage the client to live as independently and autonomously as possible within the framework of a caring environment, whilst maintaining professional boundaries.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist client with maintenance of personal care such as washing, bathing/showering, dressing and toileting where necessary.
  • Assist and encourage participation in preparation of meals in a safe and hygienic environment, taking into account clients likes and dislikes
  • Maintain own safety and that of the client at all times
  • Assist the client with intellectual stimulation such as reading, playing games or simply chatting with them
  • Maintain dignity of the client at all times, ensuring all aspects of the clients care is kept confidential and discussed only with the appropriate persons involved
  • Report any physical, mental or social changes whether advised or observed
  • Participate and contribute in reviews of the client’s care plan
  • Support and encourage clients to take a positive interest in their home environment maintaining a good standard of cleanliness
  • Participate in training, staff reviews and organisational events
  • Document tasks carried out every visit on app
  • Promote and adhere to the National Care Standards and the Scottish Social Services Council Codes of Practice

Requirements

Essential:

  • Have or get PVG
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Acquire mandatory training
  • Physically able to carry out care tasks
  • Ability to work to required policies and procedures
  • Ability to use own initiative when working unsupervised
  • Prepared to be involved in further training

Desirable:

  • Social Care related qualifications e.g. Level 2 SVQ in Social Care
  • UK Driving Licence
  • Access to a car
  • Previous care experience
  • Up to date training certificates
