Your mission:

This is a temporary, eighteen-month contract opportunity for someone who would like to explore a position within the data protection field and learn from an experienced team of compliance professionals.

As a Data Protection Manager, you may be responsible for overseeing the data protection compliance and policies of an organization. The Data Protection Manager collaborates with other data-related roles, such as data analysts, data engineers, data scientists, and data governance managers, as well as legal, IT, and business stakeholders.

Requirements

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and implementing data protection frameworks, standards, and best practices;
  • Monitoring and auditing compliance and performance;
  • Providing training and awareness to staff and customers on data security practices;
  • Handling requests, incidents, breaches and liaising with external authorities and regulators;
  • Advising on impact assessments and risk mitigation; and,
  • Staying informed about laws, regulations and trends.

Qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher;
  • Work experience in data protection or a related field;
  • Understanding of data protection regulations and proficiency in data protection technologies;
  • Familiarity with data management principles, processes, and tools, as well as data security and privacy technologies and methods;
  • Knowledge of the relevant data protection laws and regulations, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR);
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities and a high degree of integrity;
  • Professional certifications, such as the Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), the Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), or the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) considered as an advantage.
