We are recruiting for a Senior Rotational Pharmacy Assistant who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The successful candidate will act as first point of contact and respond to enquiries from Trust staff and external suppliers, dealing with queries by email and over the telephone promptly and efficiently, referring onto the appropriate member of staff where necessary.

You will be responsible to accurately dispense and issue prescriptions and drug charts under the supervision of a pharmacist or accredited checking technician. In addition, they will be supporting pharmacists and technicians in providing a high quality pharmaceutical services within the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC) including stock management duties and dispensing ready-to-use (RTU) dose banded systemic anticancer treatment.

You will also support the senior technician in the planning and dispensing SACT treatment.

Please note : Experience of working in a pharmaceutical related or hospital environment is essential. The applicant must possess an NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy services.

Accurately dispense inpatients, discharge and dose banding systemic anti-cancer treatment accurately. Prescription types will include inpatients, discharges, controlled drugs and ready to use (RTU) treatment.

To maintain accurate stock control including daily stock checks, expiry date checks and to investigate stock level discrepancies in line with current procedures.

To be able to oversee storage, archive and removal of paperwork kept for legal requirements in the department.

To ensure that the correct goods and the correct quantities are received against the corresponding order.

To answer the telephones and deal with enquiries where appropriate, take messages or refer to a more appropriate member of staff.

To contribute to the safe disposal of waste within the department.

To be able to follow standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

To operate pharmacy computer software daily.
