As a deputy play and youth services manager you will co- lead a sub team of the larger team, leading on staffing, rotas and service delivery. Staff support including direct line management for a group of staff including 121s, recruitment, health roster and leadership responsibly.

you will Co-lead one of the three sub teams that form our larger play and Youth Services team

  • children/young people and young adult cancer services
  • inpatient services

  • The Play and Youth Services Team are a large multi skilled workforce consisting of Registered Health Play Specialists, Youth Support Co-ordinators, Youth workers and young adult support coordinators working trust-wide with 0–25-year-olds.
  • The service is led by the Lead for Therapeutic Play, Recreation and Youth Services, 2 Deputy play services managers and Team leaders who have a duel clinical and leadership role.
  • You will have support and encouragement to continue to develop and learn within the team including access to ongoing learning, development and training opportunities.

As a member of the play and youth Services leadership team you will work closely with the trust lead for therapeutic play and youth services and the wider senior leadership team in the division to support opportunities for play.

You will be supported to grow and develop as part of a learning and improving team.

Active Registration with Society of health play specialists as a health play specialists’ is a requirement for this role or international equivalent.
  • The Play and Youth Services Team are a large multi skilled workforce consisting of Registered Health Play Specialists, Youth Support Co-ordinators, Youth workers, young adult support coordinators, play and activity workers and psychological well-being practitioners. The team work trust-wide with 0–25-year-olds.
  • The service is led by the Lead for Therapeutic Play, Recreation and Youth Services, a Deputy play services manager and Team leaders who have a duel clinical and leadership role.

We are looking for an enthusiastic experienced registered

health play specialist to join our play and youth services team in a leadership role.

We are expanding our award-winning team with a new deputy play and youth services manager role. You will join two other part time deputies and team leaders in leading the day-to-day service.

You will support service delivery, staffing rotas, health roster and managing the referral service.

You will have a key role in service development and leading on practice development and improvement projects for BCYP and wider team.

This Senior role will be part of the UCLH Therapeutic play and youth services leadership team. Experience in leadership and supporting staff is an advance, but if this is your first leadership role you will be fully supported to gain new skills and learn within our kind and nurturing team.

As an experienced practitioner with extensive experience of working with babies’ children young people in a variety of clinical settings you will be an advocate for BCYP accessing therapeutic play and recreation during their treatment at UCLH

This vacancy has been advertised in accordance with the new NHS pay rate which will take effect from autumn 2024. Please note if your employment starts before the 24/25 pay scales are implemented you will be paid under the 23/24 pay scales and any backpay will be adjusted accordingly.
