Accounts Assistant: South Belfast

REED is delighted to be partnered with our client, a successful business in South Belfast, in the recruitment of an Accounts Assistant to join their team. This is a full-time and office-based opportunity to work for a brilliant company who offer a range of benefits!

The successful Accounts Assistant will be detail oriented as they will be responsible for managing the company's sales and purchase ledgers and bank accounts. You will play a key role in ensuring the company's cash flow remains healthy, minimising overdue debts, timely payment of vendors and resolving any discrepancies or issues arising.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and update the sales ledger, issuing and reconciling accurate invoices.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and ensure that the ledger is up to date.
  • Manage and monitor accounts and actively follow up on payments due.
  • Ensure timely collection of outstanding debts and reduce overdue receivables.
  • Escalate accounts as needed to the senior management or external debt collection agencies.
  • Receive, verify, and input purchase invoices into the purchase ledger system.
  • Ensure invoices are matched to purchase orders and delivery receipts.
  • Verify the accuracy of vendor invoices and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare payment runs for approval in accordance with company payment policies.
  • Maintain and update vendor bank details and payment information.
  • Assist in producing regular cash flow forecasts and reports for management.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly sales, purchases, debtor and creditor reports.

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within accounts and credit control
  • Knowledge of purchase/sales ledger management.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office software
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
