Summary:We are seeking an innovative and self-motivated medicinal / synthetic chemistry lead to join and help us build our discovery team, contributing to team growth, expansion of our internal capabilities and progression of our novel project pipeline.
This role plays a pivotal part in supporting the design and synthesis of novel molecules to translate our groundbreaking biological discoveries into pioneering medicines. It presents an outstanding opportunity to thrive within an exciting, next-generation therapeutics environment.

Responsibilities:
- Assume a vital role as a medicinal / synthetic chemistry lead, contributing to the establishment of a dynamic discovery group
- Lead chemistry teams supporting projects from concept to clinic, ensuring alignment with overall program goals and timelines
- Apply efficient and creative methodologies to complete hit-to-candidate medicinal chemistry campaigns to the highest standards and in short timescales
- Utilise in-silico and synthetic techniques to drive drug design, positively impacting progression of medicinal chemistry programs
- Be aware of external technology developments and opportunities for collaboration to enhance the development of company capabilities
- Manage, inspire and empower a team of skilled chemists, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment
What we are looking for:
- A synthetic/medicinal chemistry lead with an MSc or PhD qualification, with significant experience (7+ years) within biotech or pharma.
- A demonstrated ability to lead change and work creatively to solve complex synthetic and medicinal chemistry challenges, drawing on a broad knowledge of organic synthesis, practical and analytical techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, working collaboratively across diverse groups to define project strategy and develop plans to impact drug discovery programs. Proactivity in maintaining awareness of advances in synthetic, drug design and testing and in identifying opportunities to publish scientific progress and expand capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and manage scientists, supporting their development.
- This role will require you to work from our brand-new state-of-the-art offices and labs situated in Babraham Research Campus, South Cambridge. Hybrid working is offered based on specific business needs and the role requirements.
