Locum Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for the Family Mental Health Team
6 PAs Per Week

This is an exciting opportunity for a child and adolescent psychiatrist to join one of our well-established, diverse and supportive CAMHS teams.
Family Mental Health Team (FMHT) is a CAMHS service supporting children and young people’s emotional wellbeing needs with evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Family Mental Health Team comprises a varied multi-disciplinary team, staffed by experienced CAMHS clinicians including educational psychologists, child psychotherapists, social workers, systemic family therapists, refugee care specialists and trainees from those disciplines.
FMHT is part of the Child Complex Service within the Complex Mental Health Service Line. We work closely with partners from referring local authorities (Barnet, Haringey, Enfield, Islington etc.), schools and voluntary agencies.
Candidates are requested to use the section "Supporting Information" on the application form to set out their reasons for applying and their suitability, referring to the person specification, for this post.- To provide the child and adolescent psychiatry contribution to the multidisciplinary team including consultation and support to the team.
- Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to the Assessment Clinics.
- Provide psychiatric assessments including assessment of risk to self and others as part of the integrated MDT team, in a range of settings as required.
- Take part in Mental Health Act assessments if required on cases on caseload during working hours.
- Provide consultation to other members of the team regarding cases held by the team, and psychiatric input to these cases.
- To hold a caseload of cases generally of high complexity, usually jointly with other team members, and provide psychopharmacology if appropriate.
- To provide high quality psychiatric reports, which are accessible to a multiagency audience, to assist other agencies to plan their service in light of a child or young person’s mental health difficulties.
- To contribute to data collection, audit, QI and outcome monitoring.
- Provide medical and non-medical interventions alongside team colleagues, join multidisciplinary reviews, and develop clear co-created care plans.
- To be an active member of the senior staff group within the team and undertake leadership and service development duties as required.
The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust (T&P) are the main provider of CAMHS Services to Camden, and provide a range of regional and national mental heath services.
The Education and Training Directorate provide training for clinicians, social workers, nurses, teachers and many other professionals. The clinician-tutor model and multidisciplinary approach ensures courses are relevant, transformative and empowering.
There are 3 service Lines within the Trust: Community and Integrated, Complex Mental Health and Gender. The Autism and LD service comes under the Complex Mental Health Service Lin.
Overall, there are 30 multidisciplinary teams in the Trust providing services from pre-birth up to the age of 25. There are 30 Medical Consultants in the Trust. The services cover generic whole area child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) through to highly specialist local and national services.
