We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate ASDAN Tutor/Teacher to join our partner SEN school in Bedford. This school supports students aged 11-18, with a focus on those from Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) backgrounds.

The school operates a unique teaching model based on the students' stage of development rather than age, allowing for gaps in learning and attainment to be effectively addressed. Each student is supported by a key worker to promote their academic and emotional growth in a holistic environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Curriculum Delivery: Deliver engaging, tailored lessons in line with the ASDAN qualification framework, ensuring individual learning needs of SEMH students are met.
  • Student Engagement: Create differentiated learning strategies that actively engage students and bridge gaps in understanding, ensuring each student is supported in reaching their full potential.
  • Assessment and Monitoring: Conduct regular assessments and track student progress, participating in assessment cycles and standardisation meetings required by exam boards.
  • Pastoral Care: Provide pastoral support, building strong, trusting relationships with students, and acting as a positive role model.
  • Lesson Planning: Prepare and deliver inclusive lessons that promote both academic and personal growth.
  • Collaborative Working: Work collaboratively with staff, SEN specialists, and external professionals to provide comprehensive support.
  • Behavioural Management: Use positive behaviour management techniques to maintain a supportive and safe learning environment where students feel valued.
  • Parental and Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and stakeholders to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to student development.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in SEN teaching, ASDAN qualifications, and SEMH support.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Relevant degree (desirable)
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLLS) for teachers
  • Willingness to work towards QTS for tutors
  • Minimum of 2 years' teaching experience, ideally in a SEND environment
  • Proven experience delivering ASDAN qualifications
  • Strong understanding of the National Curriculum, particularly the ASDAN framework
Key Skills and Attributes:
  • Innovative Teaching Methods: Expertise in teaching strategies tailored to the unique needs of SEND students.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the wider goals of the school.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust teaching approaches to accommodate individual learning styles and needs.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to inspire and motivate both students and colleagues.
  • Safeguarding: In-depth knowledge of safeguarding procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
  • IT Proficiency: Competence in using IT to support lesson delivery, assessments, and reporting.
Benefits:
  • Be part of a dedicated and dynamic team committed to making a real difference in students' lives.
  • Opportunity for professional growth within a supportive SEN setting.
  • Work in a school where personal development, emotional well-being, and academic success are at the core of its mission.
