Learning Support Officer (Further Education)
About the Role
We are looking for three passionate and committed Learning Support Officers to join our Study Programme Delivery Team. You will provide academic and pastoral support to learners aged 16–18, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential to build the skills, confidence and behaviours needed to progress into further education, employment or training.

What You’ll Do- Support first day of learning and learner inductions including associated documentation
- Ensure learner information is kept up to date on OneFile and other learner records
- Signpost learners to internal/external sources of support, e.g., childcare bursary, etc.
- Work collaboratively with teachers to support lesson delivery and differentiation
- Adapt learning materials to meet individual student needs
- Provide in-class support, ensuring students remain focused and engaged
- Assist students in developing study skills, time management, and independent learning strategies
- Promote student confidence, motivation, and engagement in learning
- Build positive, professional relationships with students to support their wellbeing
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, and behaviour, reporting concerns as appropriate
- Support safeguarding and welfare by following internal policies and procedures
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff, and external professionals
- Attend team meetings, training sessions, and case reviews as required
- Liaise with parents/carers to support student progress where appropriate
- Support learners with personal and professional objectives including personal development, behaviour and welfare training (for example Safeguarding, British Values and the anti-radicalisation ‘Side by Side’ on-line module)
- Provide academic and pastoral support to learners, identifying any barriers to learning
- Ensure that learners make progress and are on track to achieve in a timely fashion. This will include liaising with other delivery staff to produce an intervention plan where required and to monitor this
- Continuously improve process and contribute towards product quality
- Undertake any other reasonable request from managers and colleagues
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working with young people aged 16–18 in an educational or support setting.
- Good communication skills at a variety of levels
- Minimum of L2 English and maths
- Commitment to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners
- Maintain professional relationships with all learners
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Solutions focused and flexible
- Teaching qualification; minimum of L3 Award in Teaching & Learning
- Assessing qualification; CAVA
- Experience supporting students with EHCPs or additional needs
