Full-Time, Permanent Position
The post holder will provide an Electrical service to the Estates Services Department and other directorates within the Isle of Wight NHS Trust. They will demonstrate total commitment, versatility and flexibility whilst undertaking all tasks and delegated work as instructed by the Estates Services Team.They will work in accordance with the requirements of HTM 06-02 (or any subsequent update), the current Electrical Safety Code for Low Voltage Systems as an appointed Competent Person (LV) for the Trust.
Perform electrical testing and monitor results to compliance with the latest edition of the Wiring Regulations (currently BS 7671) on any alterations carried out to electrical installations.

Main duties of the job
Perform electrical testing and monitor results to compliance with the latest edition of the Wiring Regulations (currently BS 7671) on any alterations carried out to electrical installations.
To install, maintain, service and repair the full range of estates equipment, plant, and infrastructure, some of which will require training by the manufacturer / specialist and may include pneumatic systems, compressors etc.
Act in the role of Competent Person, as defined by Health Technical Memorandum, for the Electrical Distribution (LV) system.
Activate power changeover plant and be able to safely isolate from generators or local network in the event of a malfunction.
Be able to work safely on standby electrical systems such as 400v generators and UPS systems.
Carry out minor works and repairs on power, lighting, nurse- call, fire detection / alarm and intruder alarm systems, door access and security tagging systems, control circuits. Including any programming that may be required and passing on operational instructions to ward or departmental staff.
To be conversant with, and work on inverter drives and soft start systems.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential criteria- A minimum qualification of City and Guilds 236 Part 2 AM2/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
- Demonstrate practical training and experience preferably by completion of a time-served apprenticeship.
- Hold a valid driving licence to drive a 4-wheel car or van with manual gear change
- Relevant and recent experience in an electrical post
- City and Guilds Fundamental Inspection, testing and Initial Verification (2392) or equivalent
- Current City and Guilds certificate for the current. Edition of the electrical regulations
- City and Guilds Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) certificate 2377-77 or equivalent.
