Teaching Assistant / Tutor

Salary range: between 19000 and 24000

Start date: ASAP

Redbourn Park is growing quickly and we're seeking passionate Teaching Assistants to join our driven and energetic team. Working in small groups of just 4-6 students, you'll play a vital role in supporting our children's educational journey. Our teaching follows a primary style across all age groups, with 1-2 Teaching Assistants per class working alongside teachers and specialist therapeutic staff. While we focus on meeting individual needs, we maintain high aspirations for every child, delivering the full national curriculum in an adapted, supportive way. As a Teaching Assistant, you'll be part of a close-knit team, working with approximately 12 students and 8-10 staff on site. This excellent staff-to-student ratio allows you to build meaningful relationships with our students and provide the individual attention they need to thrive. Our students have autism as their primary need, alongside other complex needs. They are capable learners who have often experienced difficulties in previous educational settings. You'll support students with anxiety and demand avoidance, making a real difference in helping them rebuild their confidence and love for learning. Every child's journey is unique, and your role will be crucial in providing the care, understanding, and support they need. Since opening in 2021, we've expanded to a second site, with exciting plans for a third location. As we grow from our current 24 students to around 40, there will be excellent opportunities for career development, including potential progression to Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or other specialized roles. What makes this role special:

  • Small group working - really get to know your students
  • Supportive team environment
  • Comprehensive training provided
  • Opportunity to work with therapeutic specialists
  • Clear career progression pathways
  • Chance to make a genuine difference

The ideal teaching assistant will have:

  • A caring and empathetic nature
  • Patience and understanding
  • Good communication skills
  • Interest in special education
  • Desire to learn and develop
  • Commitment to supporting children's development

We welcome applications from:

  • Experienced Teaching Assistants
  • Those new to education but with relevant life experience
  • People with a background in care or support work
  • Those interested in developing a career in SEN
  • Apprentice Teaching Assistants

Development Opportunities:

  • Regular in-house training
  • Experience working with therapeutic professionals
  • Potential progression to HLTA
  • Opportunity to specialize in SEN
  • Growing school with increasing opportunities

What really makes a successful TA at Redbourn Park is being genuine, empathetic, and having a real passion for supporting young people. Your personality and approach are just as important as your experience.
