To provide a single and solid point of contact for primary and secondary care to ensure the individual needs of the Thoracic patient is the goal of the present post along with the need for surgical patients to be carefully coordinated from the time of contemplation of surgery to a period of many months following the operation.

The new appointee will work alongside the current Thoraccic surgeons to ensure a comprehensive and co-ordinated service. They will also be expected to help in establishing stronger links with our partner hospitals, and this will entail travel to these.

The Consultant will be appraised in their clinical role and advice and support for career progression will be available by the Clinical Director/Head of Service and Lead Clinicians.

The job plan will be subject to regular reviews and at this stage it is for negotiation regarding timetable for the benefit of clinical service delivery and the department as a whole. The job plan will be subject to review, with any revisions sought by mutual agreement but it is expected that the successful candidate will work with the CMG team to ensure that services are delivered efficiently and reflect best practice with processes and governance to match - this may require new and flexible ways of working in the future.
