Your Role in Our Mission:
Carmoola is revolutionising car finance with a customer-first approach, and now we’re bringing that same innovation to motor insurance. With our growing customer base, rich data insights, and commitment to transparency, we aim to simplify the UK car insurance market by removing brokers, leveraging technology, and combating fraud.These efforts will deliver a more efficient, fair, and customer-friendly insurance experience while enabling our car finance customers to seamlessly add insurance with a single click and unified monthly payment.
We are seeking an entrepreneurial leader to build and run this strategic business unit. You will be responsible for setting up and delivering the Insurance strategy, combining product vision, commercial acumen, and operational excellence to drive the success of this new vertical.
The Role:
As the Head of Insurance at Carmoola, you will be responsible for:
Strategic Leadership- Define and implement the strategic vision for Carmoola’s motor insurance business, ensuring alignment with the broader company goals.
- Conduct market research to identify opportunities, risks, and competitive positioning within the motor insurance industry.
- Lead the design, development, and iteration of innovative motor insurance products tailored to Carmoola’s customer base.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, marketing, data, and engineering teams to ensure a seamless integration of insurance offerings into the customer journey.
- Use customer insights and data analysis to inform product roadmaps and enhance customer value.
- Drive commercial negotiations with insurers and third-party partners to secure competitive terms and establish long-term, profitable relationships.
- Develop pricing strategies and financial models that balance customer affordability with revenue and margin goals.
- Oversee the end-to-end delivery of the insurance unit, including setting up operational processes, managing timelines, and achieving milestones.
- Implement scalable systems and tools to support policy administration, claims management, and customer service excellence.
- Leverage data and analytics to measure performance, track KPIs, and optimise product offerings.
- Use data insights to identify and mitigate risks, combat fraud, and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure all insurance products and services adhere to regulatory standards, working closely with compliance and legal teams.
- Implement robust risk management practices to protect customers and the business.
Requirements
Must-Have Skills and Experience- Bachelor’s degree; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in product management, insurance, or a related field, with a strong track record of delivering results.
- Proven commercial experience, including negotiation, financial modelling, and data analysis.
- Demonstrated expertise in project management, with a history of successfully leading complex, cross-functional initiatives.
- Solid understanding of the insurance sector, including market trends, regulatory frameworks, and operational best practices.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions that optimise business outcomes.
