Clinical Fellow in Cardiology

The clinical duties of the post will be the day-to-day care of patients admitted to the cardiology wards including admission, clinical examination, co-ordination of investigation of elective and emergency cardiac patients and liaison with senior colleagues.
Participation in a variety of consultant outpatient clinics is available. The successful candidate will have the opportunity, to rotate through a variety of subspeciality teams and there will be sessions and training in echocardiography, invasive cardiac catheterisation, pacing and electrophysiology.
Outpatient clinics in adult congenital heart disease, advance heart failure and inherited cardiac conditions are also available. The department provides a full range of adult cardiac services to a number of districts within the West Midlands and nationally.

The work of the Unit includes non-invasive and invasive cardiac investigations and treatment; acute coronary care; acute primary angioplasty for MI; interventional cardiology procedures including percutaneous coronary intervention, valvuloplasty, electrophysiological investigations and ablation therapy, defibrillator implants and permanent pacing; heart failure clinics/inpatient service, adult congenital heart disease service and a national transplant service.
