Band 3 – Multi Discipline Operative (Higher) Advert:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Capital, Estates & Facilities Department at Cardiff & Vale University Health Board as a Multi Discipline Operative working throughout the Estates Teams at Multiple Sites.

We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic individuals to support the continual service provision of Water Safety in one of the largest Health Boards in Wales.

The department is going through an exciting time of Modernisation and Service Improvement to maximise support and enhance the patient experience whilst, ensuring the department is fit for the future. We are looking to recruit someone who will excel in providing a safe, organised and highly efficient service, a person who can be innovative in their thinking and have the ability to make decisions for themselves, someone who can develop and support change in the department and be an integral part of a modern, effective, flexible Estates Team and ready for the future challenges ahead.

The successful applicant will have to demonstrate experience and level of competence in multi-discipline maintenance activities to enable support to the Electrical, Mechanical and Building Service Team at C&V UHB. Our prime purpose is to ensure the continual operation and proactive maintenance of Estate based “Engineering Services” across Cardiff & Vale UHB.

Main duties of the job

Performs the duties to carry out repairs and planned preventative maintenance within the estate. Working on own and using own initiative.

Ensuring hospital services, buildings and grounds are kept fully operational and safe.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To have a proactive approach to managing the estates and operational

services in the areas assigned to you.

Liaise with departmental/ward managers and external stakeholders on works in their areas and building relationships in those areas as point of contact.

Works generally unsupervised to undertake the majority of tasks and repair work using own judgement to effect repairs/solutions within capability.

Assist other staff within the department at the request of the team leader.

Work within team supporting and covering others to meet KPI targets and the needs of the service.

Understand the interrelationship between all trades and team members.

Interprets and follows the appropriate regulations at all times.

Immediately notifies the Team Leader of any deviation from the regulations.

To liaise with team leader regarding plant or equipment failures and to

request the supply of goods and/or services as necessary.

Actively participate in operation of planned preventative maintenance

programmes.

Actively participate in all continuous improvement programs.

To follow planned maintenance schedules and if required raise follow on work requests.

Carry out planned preventative maintenance inspections and record

supporting documentation l as necessary.

Undertake essential repair works and general maintenance activities at the request of the team leader
